Responsibilities
- Provide legal advice on all company matters
- Provide quick business oriented solutions and advice to the management and all departments within the company to facilitate the company's goals and business objectives with managed legal risks
- Advise management of legal implications of different possible courses of action in any given situation, providing/drafting contract templates, responding to tenders, managing litigious issues, intellectual property rights protection, corporate secretarial matters, human resources issues, liaising with and instructing external lawyers regarding specific local legal questions
- Negotiate contracts with customers/vendors/partners, draft and review various types of agreements eg licenses, consulting/services (business consulting. implementation, system management, software support, hosting arrangements), training, distributorship, supply, alliance/partner, purchase, facilities leases, employment agreements, etc.
- Recognise areas where customer practice does not match customer contract and advise sales accordingly
- Translation of contracts into English or Japanese(as needed)
- Provide legal risk management
Requirements
- Law degree or higher
- Firm understanding of IPR law
- 7 to 10 years of legal experience preferably with a multi national company or international law firm
- Good knowledge of software and related services agreement
- Proficient in drafting various types of contracts and negotiating directly with the clients, suppliers and partners
- Good business knowledge and ability to work with management on multiple legal issues
- Good interpersonal skills coupled with strong verbal and written communication skills
- Mature, firm and confident;
- Must be able to work independently, proactively and at the same time be a good team player
-Must enjoy working in a dynamic, fast moving and high pressure environment
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize work essential
- Fluent in both written and spoken Japanese and English
- Membership to the bar of at least one jurisdiction preferred

- Experience in the IT industry preferred
